Evidence.

They think of other beings as extensions of – part of – themselves and grow frustrated when there is resistance to their will. Wouldn't you if your own arm started to slap your head with the hand on its end? Sounds loopy, "funny" and dissociated, but there's a word for it:

Deranged

As in, literally, DEranged. Trump (and his posse) have lost the capacity to maintain practical or useful "scopes". "Boundary issues" sounds so mild, but on a national scale, it is serious. They misclassify and conflate what is part of what as well as what is separate from another thing. Then, for whatever reason – twists in logic, or happenstance – register parts (LA, Chicago, Baltimore) of the whole as "other" and subject that part to violence. Imagine you spotted a tumor on yourself, a parasite burrowed into your flesh. On impulse you'd want to burn it out, commit to amputation.

They do.

They have.

It gets more twisted. Such intensity exhausts other capacities. Exhausted people (victims AND abusers) live next to peril without the energy to flee the site of abuse. Some make a tainted peace, appeasing power and even finding comfort in the cracks and crevices of the new order. And "abusers" in a family become more skilled, they learn to lash out against other members who have no means to flee. They practice. They rely the existance of victims held in place by context, incomprehension, convention and notion. As abusers do this, often, they fail to reconcile the signs of compliance with the dynamic of suffering then interpret submission in sentimental terms as romance or love. Compounding pathology.

Ultimately abusers never feel "safe", at some level so long as they abuse they know abuse is possible and they'll be damned if they're ever the subject to it. Left alone, abusers never deny themselves violent options, until they believe there's no chance of any outside force holding them accountable.

And that will never be the case until they, or everyone else, is dead.

They feel aggression toward Chicago and forget to even maintain the pretense that there are explicit controls in the Constitution to forbid the use of US Military on its own civilian population. It is part of the bedrock. Misuse of military force in civil affairs is one of the chief complaints in the Declaration of Independence. Why, in the future, would citizens ever willingly contribute to a system that subjects them to violence?

Citizens won't.
Only violence and lies will compel them.

Authorities will feed only those they recognize as complicit and leave the rest to die in harness.

Are you a citizen?

It won't be comfortable. It won't be easy. No profit. Not this quarter, nor the next.

In Communist China they would execute political opponents and bill the family for the bullet.

That was making explicit there what is only tacit here.

Tacit and still fragile.

Given what makes them tick, given the prospect of decisive victory, how long will the MAGA crowd deny itself the thrill of saying the quiet part out loud?

And, when they tire of that thrill, how far along will they be in indulging the escalation? Compelling their victims to plead for mercy – out loud.
